Nellikuzhi & Sivagiri Pilgrimage
Sree Narayana Gurudev, a great saint and social reformer suggested Sivagiri Pilgrimage in 1933 years back and now it has become a big movement in India of social reformation. Gurudev introduced the five fold purity suggested by the great saint and philosopher Sri Budha - purity of body, food, mind, words and actions. Peethambara Deeksha is now given to those who observe the austerity and the members who receive the Deeksha are eligible for participation in the deliberations of the Sivagiri Pilgrimage.
Advaita Philosophy
Inner and physical purity or self control is necessary to realize ones self. Adi Sankaras Advaita Philosophy says that Jeevatma and Paramatma are one end the same. There is divinity in every person. We shall raise and improve the divinity in ones self to reach the godly stature.
Our country needs not only one Sivagiri Pilgrimage. Thousands of devotees flock to Sivagiri every year from 30th December to 1st January. We require small but pertinent pilgrimage in different parts of the country. Such pilgrimages will revolutionize the society. A pilgrimage is lacking in eastern and middle zone of Kerala. Such a pilgrimage shall be complementary to the Sivagiri Pilgrimage.
